People don’t realize how funny Eddie Murphy was. After gaining fame through SNL, at 22 he came out with “Eddie Murphy’s Delirious” which was performed to a sold out theater in D.C. He followed it up with “Eddie Murphy Raw” and at 26 made some of the funniest jokes of the 80’s to a sold out venue in Madison Square Garden. The recording of Raw went on to be the #1 stand up concert film of all time.
This cat was performing to huge sold out venues in his early 20’s. He was a comedic powerhouse. Next time you want to hate on Murphy for “Pluto Nash” or “Norbit” go watch “Eddie Murphy Raw”.
